LMC Pathology Services, a Sonic Healthcare Anatomic Pathology Practice is privileged to include Jonathan H. Hughes, M.D., Ph.D., as a member of our medical staff. Dr. Hughes has had an eminent professional career with an impressive academic background.
Dr. Hughes graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Grinnell College in Iowa. He later received both his Ph.D. in biochemistry and molecular biology and his medical degree concurrently from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri as part of the Medical Scientist Training Program.
Dr. Hughes went on to complete a four-year residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. He returned to Washington University to finish a surgical pathology fellowship at Barnes Hospital, and subsequently served a cytopathology fellowship at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
Dr. Hughes has since held a series of key positions in hospitals and laboratories in the greater Las Vegas area. At Sunrise Hospital, he was chair of the Department of Pathology, chief of staff, chair of the Infection Control and Quality Care Committees, and a member of the Institutional Review Board, the Professional Standards Committee, and the Peer Review Committee. He is currently medical director and chair of pathology at Southern Hills Hospital and Medical Center and has been with LMC Pathology Services since 1999.
Dr. Hughes is a fellow of the College of American Pathologists, and a member of three other professional medical organizations, including the American Society of Clinical Pathology. He has authored and co-authored 60 articles and book chapters for peer-reviewed medical journals and textbooks. He has also presented over a dozen abstracts at professional society meetings and has been an invited lecturer to many professional workshops and universities.
Dr. Hughes holds full medical licensure and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology, and cytopathology.
