Biography

LMC Pathology Services, a Sonic Healthcare Anatomic Pathology Practice is privileged to include David R. Coon, M.D., Ph.D., as a member of our medical staff. Dr. Coon has extensive hospital and professional experience with an impressive academic research and teaching background.

Dr. Coon graduated cum laude from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut with a degree in chemistry. He received his medical degree from John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawaii. He received his doctoral degree from Princeton University and completed a postdoctoral research fellowship also in chemistry at the University of Hawaii.

Dr. Coon completed his residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at Harvard University, Massachusetts General Hospital. He then completed a fellowship in Hematopathology at the University of California, Los Angeles Center for Health Sciences.

Dr. Coon is currently the laboratory medical director for MountainView Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. Dr. Coon is responsible for the oversight of pathology and laboratory services at this community hospital. He has experience in quality control and laboratory operations and provides representation on several committees including the blood utilization committee.

Over the years, Dr. Coon has been the recipient of numerous awards and honors including the Presentation of the Year Award in the division of laboratory medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Dr. Coon has authored and co-authored 10 peer-reviewed scholarly manuscripts, several review articles, and book chapters. He has presented numerous presentations and posters at academic meetings and conferences. He is a member of several medical professional organizations including the College of American Pathologists and the Society of Hematopathology.

Dr. Coon holds full medical licensure and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology, and hematology.
