Hematopathology
Overview
The LMC hematopathology service offers
comprehensive, state of the art diagnostic evaluation for a wide
range of benign and neoplastic hematologic disorders in adults and
children. All types of diagnostic hematologic material including
bone marrow, peripheral blood, body fluids and tissues are evaluated
by board-certified hematopathologists.
The LMC hematopathology service is staffed by board-certified
hematopathologists. The hematopathology service reviews a breadth of
hematologic malignancies and cooperates
with ongoing clinical trials (SWOG, COG, U.S. Oncology Group) and research investigations
involving lymphomas/leukemias. LMC hematopathologists have
maintained academic interests by
publishing journal articles and reference text chapters as
well as serving on the editorial boards of
peer-reviewed publications.
Emphasis is placed on cost-effective diagnostic assessment with
appropriate utilization of specialized testing including
immunohistochemistry, 4-color flow cytometry, cytogenetics, FISH and
molecular diagnostic studies. These specialized tests are integrated
with the clinical and morphologic assessment in the final diagnostic
interpretation.
LMC hematopathologists strive to maintain a close relationship with
hematologists and oncologists, and most cases are discussed promptly
with the clinician by the LMC hematopathologist responsible for the
case. Our hematopathologists remain committed to providing exemplary
care for patients with hematologic disorders in Nevada and the
surrounding region.
